Our favorite political fashionista, the lovely Samantha Cameron, has become the first ever visibly pregnant person to make it onto Vanity Fair’s ‘best dressed’ list.
We’ve always known that Sam was a fashionable lady, after all we’ve been watching her step out in Erdem dresses, trendy Converse trainers and printed maxi dresses even before the election, so it’s great to see her sense of style being appreciated!
The magazine described her chic style as ‘realpolitik’ and says her favoured designers are Erdem and Phillip Lim. According to their style profile Sam uses brooches, chain pendant and various bib necklaces to ‘dress up’ her outfits, but they also praised her everyday look which they said she dresses down with converse trainers and, perhaps not the most glamorous of accessories, a pram.
Sam isn’t the only politicians wife on the list, she joins super stylish Michelle Obama and France’s first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
The International Best-Dressed Hall of Fame List was founded by fashionista Eleanor Lambert in 1940 as an attempt to boost the reputation of American fashion at the time. The American magazine Vanity Fair is currently in charge of the List after Lambert left the responsibility to “four friends at Vanity Fair” in 2002, a year before her death.
The list has been compiled every year for the past 39 years and is dedicated to influential leaders of fashion. Amy Fine Collins, who organises the list, said: “People who make the list are individuals. They don’t look like everyone else. They tend to be fashion leaders, not followers.
She added: “Carla Bruni-Sarkozy has a sexier, sultrier look. And Samantha Cameron is the first visibly pregnant first lady we’ve had on the list.”
Other familiar fashionistas on the list include Chanel lover Diane Kruger, Carey Mulligan and the style chameleon Lady Gaga.
